The most well known
of your Fathers boys
The most loved? Perhaps. Eventually, at least.
The one who would be King?
To build the Temple?
That Temple?
Yes.
You asked not for riches but
for wisdom.
And it was given you in abundance.
You wrote many Proverbs, a Song,
-a Psalm?
You made many decisions
Hosted the Queen of Sheba
You did all these things and gave the glory
To the Creator
The God of your father
The God of your Proverbs
The God of the Law.
You gave the glory to That One
Until
You did not.
Did not keep up
your end of the bargain.
You allowed yourself
to be led
Not by His Spirit
but by your flesh.
And you gave His Glory
to the Gods of your wives
Your many many wives
and a concubine or two
And it was after He left you
to your own devices
That you became
cruel
and
miserly.
Wise- in your own eyes now
Wise in your own “right”
And so
Your proverbs are now bittersweet
For they guide me
to walk the path
That you strayed from.
